IMPORTANT UPDATES

August 4, 2023

To All Members:

As of August 1, the address for the New York State Public Employee Conference has changed.  The building NYSPEC’s office was located in was sold, and we were required to vacate on relatively short notice.  The US Post Office has been notified to facilitate the forwarding of interim mail.

Please take a moment to update NYSPEC’s contact information, as follows, in your database(s) and mobile devices.  Our new address is:

New York State Public Employee Conference
Peter D. Meringolo, Chairman
1129 Northern Blvd – Suite 404
Manhasset, NY 11030

The telephone numbers were part of our lease package, so they are now defunct.  Until further notice, please use my mobile number, 917-418-7981, or email -- pmeringolo@nyspec.org -- to contact me.

2023 Annual Meeting / Convention
I have been receiving inquiries regarding our Annual Meeting/Convention, which is scheduled this year from Friday, December 1, through Wednesday, December 6.

If you are trying to plan your schedule and flights, please note that the most important meetings will take place from 9:00 to Noon on Sunday, 12/3, Monday, 12/4, and Tuesday, 12/5.

Convention registration opens on Friday, 12/1, with additional opportunities on Sunday and Monday mornings.  The Golf event is scheduled for Saturday, 12/2.  If you are planning to utilize only the four nights that NYSPEC affords to each member unit, I recommend arrival on Friday, 12/1, with departure on Tuesday, 12/5, after the morning meeting, or, alternatively, arrival on Saturday, 12/2, with departure on Wednesday, 12/6.

I have also received inquiries regarding the complete agenda and the room block code.  The agenda is not finalized and will not be for some time, as invitations to elected officials and providers are in process.  These must be confirmed before events, etc., can be scheduled.

It is anticipated that the room block code will be released during the third of fourth week this month.  I had a lengthy call with the General Manager of the Caribe to resolve issues regarding the rooms.  You will be getting an email prior to the block of rooms being released explaining everything.

Suffice to say that planning for the Annual Meeting / Convention involves a substantial amount of work.  I am confident you will agree that, for the information and interaction you experience at our formal meetings and the many events sponsored by our providers, when you factor in the extremely low price point for rooms as compared to other conventions, the value of our annual event is far superior!

I encourage you to log in to the member section of the NYSPEC website, and view the Events section, where you will see more specific information regarding the Annual Meeting / Convention as it is finalized.  As is done each year, I will email the complete tentative agenda when it is finalized, and any last-minute changes will be published and distributed at registration.

We are working to put together yet another great convention!

In Unity,
Peter D. Meringolo

Chairman
