Hopefully you were able to be on yesterday’s conference call with NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.
I believe the call went very well, with the Comptroller giving his update on the budget and answering questions submitted by our members. We will post a synopsis of the call on our website when it is finalized.
If you were on the call you heard me mention the bill (A3988) sponsored by Assemblyman Abbate extending the COVID 19 Death Benefit law to December 31, 2022, which has already passed the Assembly.
We now have a companion bill in the senate (S4681) sponsored by Senator Gounardes. This, as you know, is part of NYSPEC's number one 2021 legislative priority, which is extending the law retroactively, and permanentizing it.
I have attached our Memo in Support for this legislation, and I urge you, and all member units, to issue a support memo on individual letterhead. Please forward a copy of your support memo to me as well.
